Edinburgh BioQuarter (EBQ) is a public sector partnership between the University of Edinburgh; Scottish Enterprise; NHS Lothian and City of Edinburgh Council. The partners have agreed to work together to develop and promote the BioQuarter as a leading life sciences campus which drives innovation and delivers healthcare, research and economic benefits.

An EBQ Programme Team is being created to provide the critical skills and resources required to drive development and implementation of a Business Plan to align activity and investment from EBQ partners and ensure successful delivery of shared strategic objectives. The Programme Team will be a team of four people led by an experienced Programme Director.

The position is a critical senior management role within EBQ with specific accountability for the strategic implementation of the next phase of delivery. This will include the development and delivery of a partnership wide business plan which will incorporate up to £400m of partnership infrastructure investment over the next 5 years. The successful candidate will have a key role in identifying private sector investment globally and utilising existing networks and contacts to drive success. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of a small core team as well as strategic leadership and management of a much larger virtual team across all partner organisations. The Programme Director will be regarded both internally and externally as the leader of Edinburgh BioQuarter and will play a key role in developing, influencing and maintaining key partner and stakeholder relationships around a common vision. The Programme Director will also have a key role in supporting the development and implementation of an EBQ communications and marketing strategy.

As a key senior management position within EBQ the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience and high level skills across a range of areas, including technical and interpersonal. The successful candidate will also have a track record of success in business development and in managing large scale projects. This is a fixed-term post for 5 years in the first instance.
