We seek highly qualified candidates to build and grow innovative, mission-led research programmes which make significant contributions in tackling real-world problems, including Global Challenges highlighted by Queen’s, by identifying and enabling new forms of interdisciplinary research and education. This recruitment is central to our ambitious expansion plans, part of major investment from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, helping us deliver against Queen’s Vision2020 and beyond.
You will join the recently established Pioneer Research Programme (PRP) in Intelligent Autonomous Manufacturing Systems hosted by the Energy, Power and Intelligent Control (EPIC) research cluster in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. This PRP is run in conjunction with academics from the Schools of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Psychology, and Mathematics & Physics.
Your experience of bridging the gap between theory and application in areas such as industry 4.0, collaborative robotics, cobotics, design and control of hybrid and parallel manipulators, robotics for hazardous environments, or control technology for energy efficiency and waste heat recovery, will be instrumental in allowing you to contribute at a senior level to this developing programme. We are particularly interested in applicants who can contribute strongly in the areas of cognitive robotics and flexible autonomous systems, distributed intelligence and networked control, or real-time embedded systems and control, and who have a track record of engaging with industry.
You will inspire students and facilitate motivational learning, supported by world-class teaching and research facilities, and will work with engineering and commercial teams to translate your research to real-world impact.
