Open World Research Initiative (OWRI)
We are seeking a highly qualified, independent and talented Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join a Durham-based research team, led by Professor Anoush Ehteshami and Dr Andy Byford contributing to the Open World Research Initiative (OWRI) programme titled “Cross-Language Dynamics: Reshaping Community” (CLDRC). CLDRC is a large interdisciplinary and multi-institutional project, led by Professor Stephen Hutchings of the University of Manchester and funded by a £4 million grant from the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The project is delivered by a consortium composed of three core institutions – the University of Manchester, Durham University, and the School of Advanced Studies in London. Each of the partners is responsible for one of the project’s three strands: the multilingual (Manchester), the transnational (Durham), and the translingual (London).
This is a full-time, fixed-term post for 2 years. The successful applicant is expected to start 3rd of January 2017 and no later than 31st January 2017. S/he will be based at Durham University, School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA) and will be working under the supervision of Prof Ehteshami on the following research topic:
The transformation of political Islam and the behaviour and the evolving socio-political narrative of Islamist forces at a time of dynamic change in the modern Middle East and North Africa region.
