Literacy Tutor

Mary Ward Centre

The Mary Ward Centre requires a tutor to teach adult literacy at all levels. The tutor would also act as cover for our other literacy courses.

Successful candidates will have a Skills for Life (Literacy) qualification at level 5 or above, plus substantial experience of teaching literacy in an adult education context.

The literacy tutor will often work with SLDD and dyslexic students. Experience in this area is a requirement, and an SLDD or a dyslexia qualification is desirable although not essential.  At the Centre, we work with a range of special needs, including mental ill-health.  Teaching experience in the sympathetic and constructive support of students with multiple difficulties is desirable.

The Mary Ward Settlement is a multi service community organisation with both a specialist adult education college and a legal advice service. Based in Bloomsbury, Central London, the college has a reputation for its wide range of quality courses and for being the friendly place to learn.  There are around 5500 students attending part time courses of study in subjects that have relevance for work, for personal growth or just for fun.
