SEACAMS 2 (Sustainable Expansion of the Coastal and Marine Sectors 2) is a collaborative project between Bangor University and Swansea University. This post is part-funded by the EU’s West Wales and the Valleys European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Operational Programme through the Welsh Government. The Environmental Knowledge Systems Hub (ENVOKH) is a constituent part of SEACAMS2 focusing on marine data and derived products.

ENVOKH aspires to derive more value from marine data by developing innovative new ways of using data that will in turn address the needs of businesses in the marine sector. Crucially for this to be possible some software must be written to surface data on web portals, orchestrate data feeds to modelling systems as well as visualise and enhance the presentation of data.

Applications are invited for the post of ENVOKH Software Developer. The post holder will work with the ENVOKH Systems Architect to develop software solutions to identified priority areas for ENVOKH. The post holder will be educated to degree level or substantial and equivalent qualifications or experience in computer science or engineering and will be an experienced software developer in enterprise level Java having delivered both web and desktop applications. Experience within any of the following areas would be a distinct advantage: C# .Net; Python; mobile app development and cloud infrastructure services.

The successful candidates will be expected to start in January 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is available initially until 31st December 2018, with the possibility of extension.
