An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Integration Manager within our recently funded SMARTLINE project. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced applicant to fill this role, which is key to establishing and maintaining an innovative data collection and integration system to support this SMART homes, SMART communities project.
The SMARTLINE project, with an overall budget of £4.7million, is a research and innovation project aimed at supporting the growth of the eHealth and eWellbeing small and medium enterprise (SME) sector in Cornwall. Through the identification and support for products, processes and services that will improved the health and wellbeing of social housing tenants and build the cohesion of their communities, the project aims to stimulate and support SME development. This is a partnership project involving the University of Exeter, Coastline Housing, Volunteer Cornwall, and Cornwall Council.
SMARTLINE is supported by funding from the European Regional Development Fund, part of the European Structural and Investment Funds, and the South West Academic Health Science Network, and as such, business support and engagement is fundamental to the delivery of the project and a key aspect of all posts within it.
The Project involves academics from across the University, and is based at the internationally regarded, European Centre for Environment and Human Health (www.ecehh.org) in the University of Exeter Medical School in Truro.
SMARTLINE involves placing a range of sensors in homes and collecting and merging this data with questionnaire data, data on the housing stock and other data available from partners or available secondary data sets. The IT integration manager will have oversight of the IT and data aspects of the project and work collaboratively with researchers and businesses to deliver the project outputs.
Key responsibilities of the post will include:
- - Overall responsibility for the successful operation of the SMARTLINE IT system;
- - Design, and implement data storage and access schemas for the SMARTLINE databases including the development and delivery training courses and workshops to all levels of user;
- - Providing a focus of contact for SMARTLINE partners and other users for enquiries relating to IT aspects, including database linkages and access;
- - Acquiring a thorough understanding of data structures in the underlying databases;
- - Developing data validation and cleansing scripts to ensure data quality;
The successful candidate will be an experienced IT project manager with a good understanding of complex IT systems, linkage of diverse data, and data synthesis. In addition, s/he will have demonstrable experience of developing database schemas and an in-depth understanding of relational database architecture.
