Contracts and Agreements Manager

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine - Research Governance and Contracts

The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) is an internationally recognised centre of excellence for research in tropical diseases. Through the creation of effective links with governments, organisations and institutions and by responding to the health needs of communities, LSTM aims to promote improved health, particularly for people of the less developed / resource poorest countries in the tropics and sub-tropics.

To meet the challenges of providing high quality support at the level of demand required, the Head of Corporate Performance, Planning and Contracts is looking to appoint a Contracts and Agreements Manager to provide support in managing all aspects of contract administration and negotiations relating to research and technical assistance projects across LSTM.

Within this role your principal duties will be focused on: providing comprehensive advice and guidance to staff on contractual issues relating to commercial and non-commercial business and research; contributing to strategic discussions and the development of relevant corporate governance policy; along with the day to day management and supervision of direct reports.

It is essential that you are educated to degree level or equivalent and have substantial experience of working in a professional administrative role within Higher Education or a similar research and development environment and you will use this experience to interpret complex terms and conditions to advise on their impact.

Candidates must have well developed analytical capabilities. We are therefore looking for an individual that can evidence their ability to absorb information and explain and present complex information to diverse audiences. You must be able to communicate, negotiate and influence effectively, with the purpose of creating processional relationships with researchers, administrators and senior staff within LSTM and externally.

This job is unlikely to attract a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship (formerly a work permit). Applications from candidates who require Tier 2 immigration status to work in the UK may not be considered if there are a sufficient number of other suitable candidates. To apply for a Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship, employers need to demonstrate that they are unable to recruit a resident worker before recruiting an individual overseas. For further information, please visit:

We believe that this post will not be suitable for individuals on Tier 5 visas as this post is not considered to be supernumerary to the organisation
