This role will manage special support arrangements for examinations and assessments for students with learning support needs within the University’s Assessment Office team. You will be required to manage learning support assessments and examinations, as well as responding to tutor, student and general enquiries about learning support arrangements. You will work closely with the University’s Learning Support and Inclusion Office, and with colleagues in the Assessment Office, to ensure the delivery of a professional and responsive student support service.
Responsibilities of this role will include:
- Acting as the primary point of contact for learner support within the Assessment Office;
- Managing the organisation of learning support examinations and assessments, ensuring the provision of specialist support in accordance with learning support agreements;
- Monitoring and acting upon any identified risks to successful assessment delivery, informing the Senior Assistant Registrar of any identified risks;
- Responding to tutor, student and general enquiries about learning support arrangements and contact with external agencies;
- Ensuring regulatory compliance with the University General Academic Regulations (GARS) and the requirements of professional, regulatory or statutory bodies as required;
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in an academic registry or similar setting, preferably within an assessment office team.
Equally importantly, they should have excellent communication with a well-developed understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and confidentiality in the context of student support. They will also be able to demonstrate their ability to remain calm and focused under pressure and with a diverse workload.
They should be familiar with managing a student records system (ideally Banner), and have experience of the QAA’s Codes of Practice.
