Applications are invited for an Electronics Technician in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London.
The successful candidate will be pivotal in providing technical and practical support to the teaching and research project laboratories within the Geotechnics section.
The post holder will provide electronic services in support of research and teaching including the design and fabrication of electronic circuits and instruments including the repair of electro-mechanical and electronic devices. You will be conversant with the development and interfacing of microcomputers and software including interfacing with computer controlled equipment. The post holder will work closely with the Research Officer and assist with the production of specialist apparatus used for soil testing. This will include servo drives, hydraulic and pneumatic pressure-control systems, as well as transducers and data-logging facilities.
You must be self-motivated, show initiative and be confident in working to meet deadlines. The successful candidate should have an HND or equivalent in a relevant area, excellent practical, technical, analytical and troubleshooting skills, as well as detailed knowledge of modern, sophisticated laboratory instrumentation.
