King’s College London is seeking to appoint an outstanding leader to the position of Executive Dean of King’s Dental Institute following the recent retirement of Professor Dianne Rekow.
King’s College London is one of the top 25 universities in the world. Situated in the heart of London, it is a diverse and global institution with more than 27,000 students from nearly 150 countries, and more than 7,000 colleagues across five campuses. King’s is a vibrant and exciting place, inspiring and leading the way in discovery and innovation through its students, academics and their cutting-edge research. King’s provides an intellectually stimulating environment in which to work, with staff dedicated to the advancement of knowledge and learning, in the service of society.
Reporting to Professor Sir Robert Lechler, Provost (Health |Faculties) and Executive Director of King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre, the new Dean will lead the UK’s largest dental school, which boasts 4th place in the 2016 QS World University Rankings. Key priorities will be to continue to drive research performance across the faculty, to engage more actively across the King’s academic community, and to strengthen relationships with the partner NHS trusts. The dean will sit on the Senior Leadership Team of King’s.
The College is looking for a highly credible dental researcher, who is probably but not necessarily a clinician, and who is committed to providing an outstanding student education. Candidates must be accomplished managers of people and resources, with polished ambassadorial, diplomatic and relationship-building skills. They must be comfortable working across the university-healthcare divide. They must demonstrate inspirational leadership, dynamism, vision and tenacity. This is an opportunity to drive the continued step change in the performance of the Dental Institute and help King’s realise its ambitious plans.
