Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is looking to recruit an Academic Representation Coordinator with a focus on Law, Business, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences. We are looking for friendly and approachable individuals with an excellent track record and a keen interest in working with students as well as an understanding of the key issues affecting students in higher education. This is an exciting time to be joining the Advice & Representation team. We are entering a year of real change on campus as a number of significant changes are taking place within the University of Reading and the higher education landscape nationally.
The role will involve:
- Coordinating the delivery of academic representation systems
- Developing and supporting student Academic Reps
- Increasing student engagement in academic representation
- Monitoring outcomes and promoting impact of academic representation
- Coordinating elections and supporting campaigns
Previous experience of the following is required:
- Studying or working in higher education sector
- Undertaking administrative duties
- Managing multiple tasks and a diverse workload
- Building relationships at all levels within an organisation
- Working effectively on own initiative
Reading University Students’ Union (RUSU) is a student-led charity which exists to support students and enhance their University experience. Our members make up 17000 students from over 150 countries who are registered and study at the University of Reading.

RUSU’s Advice & Representation Department is made up of a team of dedicated staff working to build strong student representation structures, develop student representatives, increase student engagement in campaigning and other opportunities to enhance the student experience; whilst providing high quality support and advice services to our members.
Our representation work includes supporting academic representatives in schools and departments across the university. This runs alongside our aim to support RUSU’s elected full-time and part-time Officer Teams with their campaigning work, supporting diversity and integration initiatives, coordinating our 'Change It’ democratic platform and our annual programme of online elections.
