Accounts/HR and Events Administrative Assistant (Maternity Cover)

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 5. The salary range will be £23,604 to £26,859 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The UCL Institute of Archaeology is the largest university-based archaeological institution in Britain, with more than 600 students, from many different countries, age groups and backgrounds, and more than 70 academic and administrative staff. We are recruiting a part-time Administrative Assistant to assist the Departmental Manager with financial management one day a week and the Executive Assistant to the Director with Human Resources, general administration and events two days a week. Duties include: assisting with marketing and organisation of events, coordinating the day to day administration of Honorary Associates and Academic Visitors and assisting with the day to day HR administration for e.g. holiday and sickness absence recording. They will also include: processing payments and student related expenses as well as raising sales invoices and setting up new suppliers and customers on UCL's MyFinance software. The post is available to start in mid-January for 11 months in the first instance.

The post-holder will be expected to work independently, referring to the HR Administrator and line manager (the Executive Assistant to the Director) in the event of difficult or novel situations. The post-holder must be flexible, have the ability to prioritise their workload, keep to deadlines and be able to multitask. The post-holder will have experience with HR administration and complex administrative tasks. They will also have good numeracy skills and experience with the manipulation of financial/numeric data. Excellent IT skills with good knowledge of excel, word, e-mail, etc. is also essential.
