Library Services within UWE Bristol is seeking to appoint a Library Academic Support Co-ordinator.
Library Services has expanded its remit and responsibility to include the co-ordination of the support and development of academic literacy across the university, linking with other faculty and professional services within the institution. As a long term provider of information skills learning and teaching, this is a natural development for the Library. The approach being taken is to integrate the skills and experience of staff familiar with supporting English for Academic Purposes with existing library subject teams and to develop both in order to provide holistic support for students in developing and honing their skills in learning to study and to research effectively. This is seen as a critical element in supporting students in their assessments, in developing their lifelong learning skills and helping to transition them to their preferred employment and/or academic futures.
You will, therefore, be required to help develop library staff in their support for students’ academic writing skills, across the board, in conjunction with the library’s Academic Development Librarians.
This post will be based in the library subject team supporting the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences (HAS). An understanding of the requirements of professional will be important.
Library staff in the subject teams liaise closely with their academic counterparts, helping to develop the curriculum in ways that ensure students have both the resources and skills required to succeed in their studies.
Interviews are scheduled to take place on 9 January 2017
