Job overview: The Data Management and Design function drives the detailed design, management, implementation and technical support of the IT Services’ data stores, databases and data assets.
Working in the context of an overall project team and project governance framework, it works closely with the solution architecture and enterprise architecture functions to ensure the data architecture is successfully delivered and maintained. Engineer (Data).
You will be a key member of the Data Management and Design Team, providing technical specialism in the data technologies, tools and methodologies necessary to provide an accessible, available, secure and up to date IT environment for the University’s staff and students.
You will support the team in monitoring performance, and ensuring the integrity and security of the University’s corporate databases.
By designing and implementing sound data integration processes you’ll ensure data availability and consistency across core systems.
Possessing a good understanding of database architecture, and experience in database management systems, you will have the analytical skills necessary to support the team in producing standards and procedures for data analysis, data modelling, and in establishing, modifying and maintaining data structures.
Additionally you will have an aptitude for problem-solving, and be able to work accurately under pressure. You’ll be a good team-worker, keen to acquire new skills, and be willing to keep up to date with developments in technology.
- Degree qualification or can demonstrate equivalent experience, a higher degree or a technical/managerial accreditation;
- evidence of CPD.
