The School intends to appoint a Lecturer in Comparative Literature. The appointment will be made in the area of East Asian literatures, with a focus on Chinese literature and culture, but candidates should also be able to demonstrate good knowledge of cultural and literary theory, and some experience of teaching in these fields. The successful candidate will have a research background in East Asian literatures (with a focus on Chinese literature and culture), strong competence in Standard Chinese, and the potential to produce high-quality research of international standing.
The successful candidate should be able to take up his or her appointment from 1 September 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, a defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme. This is a permanent post, subject to successful probation.
