PhD Studentships 2017-18

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)-funded doctoral studentships as partners in the CHASE AHRC Doctoral Training Partnership:

Across the CHASE Consortium up to 75 studentships will be awarded in 2017. 

The Faculty will also offer up to 18 University-funded PhD studentships available to students from within or outside the EU.

  • Museum and Heritage Studies
  • Philosophy
  • Political, Social and International Studies

The AHRC studentships are available to UK and EU residents: for UK residents awards consist of fees and a tax-free maintenance stipend (currently £14,296 per year); for EU residents awards are on a fees-only basis. In addition, a research training support grant will cover professional development opportunities, including the enhancement of public engagement skills and placements with CHASE partner organisations in the UK and overseas.

The majority of the University studentships cover tuition fees at UK/EU rates, a tax-free maintenance stipend (currently £14,296 per year), and a research training support grant. Up to two university studentships will be awarded to International students from outside the EU and will cover tuition fees at international rates, a maintenance stipend and research training support grant.
