Salary: Grade 3: £16,289 - £17,898 per annum. Potential to progress to £18,940 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution.


Automatic Control and Systems Engineering (ACSE) is one of the largest departments devoted to the subject in Europe, with 28 academic staff, 43 research staff, 29 professional and support staff and nearly 400 taught and research students. The post-holder will provide a professional and welcoming reception service for staff, students and visitors.

The post-holder will be responsible for a range of general reception duties, such as dealing with enquiries, handling departmental post and maintaining departmental notice boards. The post-holder will also take responsibility for the ordering of materials such as printing and catering.

The post-holder will take responsibility for the administrative tasks required to support some teaching activities, for example dealing with coursework submissions and using My Online Learning Environment (MOLE). In addition the post-holder will be involved in supporting departmental events and ensuring that information available to students and staff remains up to date and relevant.

You will have previous administrative or clerical experience, working in a busy office environment. Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, email and the internet are essential to the role, whilst some experience of using Google applications would be an advantage. You will have excellent customer service skills and communication skills, good organisational and time management skills, and experience of working within a team environment.
