University College Cork - MaREI Centre
|Salary:||please see advert for salary details|
|Contract Type:||Contract / Temporary|
|Placed on:||25th November 2016|
|Closes:||9th December 2016|
The MaREI Centre is a key research centre within UCC’s Environmental Research Institute (ERI) and has over 30 years of experience in conducting fundamental and applied research supported by competitively won national and international funding, and commercial contracts with government agencies and industry.
The Centre is home to the Lir National Ocean Test Facility (NOTF) which comprises state of the art test tanks and an extensive electrical laboratory housing a low voltage microgrid and power take off test rigs to support maritime industries including Marine Renewable Energy. The Centre has been very successful at attracting EU Horizon 2020 funding and most recently has been awarded the contract to co-ordinate a three-year, €3m Project (Toaide) to design, develop and test a highly reliable electrical generation system suitable for tidal energy applications using the NOTF.
As a result of this ongoing success, we have an exciting opportunity for a senior electrical engineer to join MaREI and lead a team of five engineers to deliver EU H2020 Toaide project in addition to other ongoing national and EU projects. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership and direction to the team and to ensure that projects goals and outputs are met. This is a challenging role and requires substantial experience of managing EU projects, the ability to produce high quality outputs including peer reviewed publications to deadline and to identify and secure additional funding to perpetuate and grow the team.
