As specialist technical instructor in woven textiles, you will have highly skilled specialist knowledge in the processes, techniques and skills required in the use, maintenance and demonstration of Jacquard power looms.
The postholder will have a deep knowledge of the complexity of the Jacquard power loom, with the required skills to experiment and produce a large variety of outcomes. The successful candidate will be committed to ensuring good working practice is maintained at all times within the technical areas and will provide highly skilled technical support and guidance including technical demonstrations and inductions.
It is essential that the postholder has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of creating teaching and induction materials for a range of skill levels. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to use initiative to work independently or as part of a team are essential requirements, along with good time management skills and the ability to work flexibly.
Working hours are 17.5 hours per week over two and a half days. On occasion, during busy periods such as the lead up to Work-in-Progress (WiP) and final Shows, the post holder may be offered additional hours of work by their line manager, up to a total of 35 hours per week. Working any additional hours is voluntary.
