Please note: we have two Senior Admissions Assistant positions available. One position is a fixed term contract until 6th March 2018; the other position is permanent. Both positions are full time. You will join a busy team responsible for the handling of applications to a range of high-profile courses at the University.
You will be the first point of contact for a high volume of prospective applicants to the University, providing advice and guidance to applicants and their supporters on the application process, admissions criteria and admissions policy. You will play an active role in identifying areas of improvement to systems and service and work closely with the Admissions Coordinator and academic departments to monitor applications and ensure that service targets are adhered to. You will work flexibly as part of a team across the Student Admissions and Recruitment Office, contributing to significant University events such as open days and award ceremonies.
You will have a proven commitment to delivering service of the highest quality to applicants and their supporters. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with a variety of people, including those for whom English is not their first language, in a supportive and sensitive manner. You will be educated to at least GCSE level (including in Mathematics and English) or equivalent and will have the ability to work quickly and reliably with large volumes of information. You will have excellent attention to detail and customer service skills, and a sound knowledge and experience of office IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access). Experience of working with databases, records management and data entry, and knowledge of the Higher Education sector, (particularly with regard to admissions and undergraduate study), is desirable.
Please note: Some activities and events organised by the Student Recruitment, Outreach and Admissions Office take place outside normal office hours. This post involves some evening and weekend work (for which compensating pay or time off will be provided).
