De Montfort University - Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

De Montfort University is an ambitious and thriving institution located within the historical and cosmopolitan city of Leicester. Our state of the art Campus is host to a diverse body of over 20,000 students and nearly 3,000 staff including some of the finest academics in the United Kingdom. The 2016 Sunday Times Good University Guide ranked us as the most improved University in the UK and our meteoric ascent through the league tables is testament to our focus on excellence and drive for success.

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is comprised of four Schools who deliver a high quality accredited courses and world class research. We have a firmly international outlook which is further under-pinned by our investment in areas that are critical to contemporary health and social care academia. One such example of this is the recent opening of the Leicester Academy for the Study of Ageing (LASA) which brings together health, academic and charitable organisations to provide a renewed focus upon this important area of study.

The post of Professor/Reader of Older People’s Health is new and we believe that it will make a critical contribution to our work in this space. We are seeking to appoint a research leader who will work alongside medical and non-medical research staff to drive forward our burgeoning profile in this field. He or she will have an outstanding personal track record, strong external networks, proven success in attracting grant funding and an appetite to mentor colleagues. This is an opportunity to make a significant input to our ground-breaking work in this area and subsequently contribute to national policy and practice.
