Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer within the Faculty of Biology responsible for research and graduate matters within the School of the Biological Sciences
This role acts as Secretary to the Graduate School of Life Sciences (GSLS) Strategic Committee, a joint venture between the School of Clinical Medicine and the School of the Biological Sciences whose main activities relate to funding, researcher skills development and the development of joint policy initiatives for the benefit of almost 2000 graduate students within the Life Sciences; Secretary to the Degree Committee for the Faculty of Biology overseeing the work of this Committee which covers ~1200 students across eight Departments, one Research Institute and 8 University Partner Institutes whilst also representing the School on University committees involved with the development of business processes and financing of graduate students, and Secretary to the Joint Faculties Senior Academic Promotion Committee.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced administrator with excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. Be educated to degree level or equivalent, as well as experienced in academic affairs and human resources issues within a HEI environment. The candidate should also have the ability to perform under pressure, confidently communicate with staff at all grades, and have the ability to handle complex and difficult situations.
