The University of the West of England (UWE) and the Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative (APCRC) are working together to provide exciting new opportunities to span the boundary between academia and the NHS and support partnership working that will improve and enhance local healthcare. The Centre for Health and Clinical Research (CHCR) at UWE has strong links to the NHS and is engaged in a wide range of research aimed at evaluating and improving patient care and service delivery. APCRC works on behalf of Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Groups to support primary care research, knowledge mobilisation and promote evidence and evaluation in healthcare commissioning. This post, funded by APCRC, extends the close links between CHCR and APCRC. The purpose of this post is to support improvement in health care delivery by developing fruitful partnerships with clinical commissioning group colleagues and working with colleagues to prepare applications for service improvement/development funding initiatives.

The post will be of interest to a dynamic and enthusiastic individual who enjoys cross-organisational working and using their initiative to identify, develop and deliver on health service improvement projects. You will hold a Masters degree or higher qualification, have current knowledge of research methods and techniques to support healthcare evaluation and research, have experience of creating effective working relationships with colleagues in health and academic areas and is able to organize and develop funding applications targeted to the priorities of funders.

The post is full time, at Research Fellow Grade G (£31,655 – £37,768), for a fixed term of 1 year and is available from January 2017. The post holder will have a base at the University of the West of England and Avon Primary Care Research Collaborative. In addition, time will be spent at each clinical commissioning group.
