Fixed term for 3 years, due to external funding
We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in sensor data analytics to contribute to a ‘Internet of Things‘ research project. The post is a 3 year post based at Leeds Beckett University, in the School of Computing, Creative Technology and Engineering.
The post holder will work within a large multi-national project funded under the EU H2020 IoT programme. The project, Management Of Networked IoT Wearables (MONICA) will deliver a very large scale demonstration of multiple existing and new Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for Smarter Living.
The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development and integration of a system comprising wearable and non-wearable sensors including cameras. Specifically, the work will involve the design, implementation and evaluation of intelligent algorithms using machine learning for the tracking, and modelling of peoples’ behaviours in crowded environments. The solution will be evaluated at 6 pilot sites under very challenging conditions in 6 major cities across Europe.
As an active member of the MONICA team you will be expected to work collaboratively with other MONICA researchers at Leeds Beckett and at consortium organisations in the UK and at 5 European countries.
You will be expected to liaise with consortium partners, collaborate to disseminate scientific and technical results at international conference, workshops, meetings and will be expected to write articles for high impact scientific journals.
Some travel to Europe is to be expected.
This is a full-time, fixed term post which is available for a period of 36 months. The start date of the post is 1 February 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.
