The Enterprise Systems Group is looking for a talented Developer/Systems Integrator to join our Finance Systems team. You will be part of a group that integrates systems across the University and creates bespoke applications to gather, manage and utilise the University’s data to support teaching, research and administration ensuring that York stays one of the top Universities in the UK.
You will focus on finance related systems and services, but will work across many business areas through projects that involve integration with other systems and data.
Over the last two years the team has increasingly adopted Spring, Groovy and Grails for integration and application development. As a result an aptitude for transitioning and improving legacy applications to our new framework and architecture would be ideal. A passion for improving working practices, a love of clean code, unit testing, continuous integration, Agile, and familiarity with terms such as YAGNI would all be an advantage.
Key Skills required:
- Java, Grails/Groovy and Spring
- Design patterns and object orient design
- SQL and relational database design
- Practical experience of development best practice
It's important that you are able to quickly understand business processes, and that you can use this knowledge to connect people with existing services, or to develop new applications where required.
The post is available on a full-time basis, on an open contract. The Information Services Directorate operates a flexi-time scheme which allows for flexible working whilst ensuring operational requirements are fulfilled. The annual holiday entitlement is 38 days, including 8 statutory public holidays and University closure days. The leave year is October to September. If the post is part-time, or appointment is made part-way through the year, holiday entitlement will be reduced pro rata.
The salary will be within the range £31,076 - £38,183 a year.
It is anticipated that technical tests and interviews will be held on 9th January 2017.
