You will join a team that provides technical support for various commercial and research activities within the Faculty. You will manage a small analytical laboratory, prepare samples for analysis and carry out chemical analysis of samples. Samples may be presented in various forms including soil, organic wastes, water or gas. Sample preparation methods include grinding, chemical extractions and acid digests. The analytical techniques used are mainly instrumental, principally ICP-AES, AAS and gas chromatography.
You should have a degree or equivalent in a scientific subject (preferably analytical sciences, chemistry or environmental science) and significant relevant laboratory-based experience. Training in specific techniques will be provided where necessary. Good organisational and team-working skills are essential.
