Senior Lecturer in Korean Studies

University of Melbourne - Asia Institute, Faculty of Arts

The Asia Institute has established a significant partnership with the Korea Foundation to develop a new and innovative Korea Studies position for an engaged academic with networks in Korea and internationally. The Asia Institute is The University of Melbourne's key centre for studies in Asian languages, cultures and societies, and is committed to community engagement and cultural exchanges that aim to promote dialogue and debate.

This pioneering initiative at the University of Melbourne will see the incumbent initiate a new Korea Program and build strategies around teaching, research and engagement activities. Fields of teaching and research will cover areas such as: contemporary Korean society, politics, culture, foreign policy, business, Australia-Korea relations and regional cooperation issues.

This brand-new role will suit a driven individual who can use their previous experience in developing new programs and research areas to build a successful area of teaching, research and engagement within the Asia Institute. It is an exciting opportunity for the appointee to bring their previous Korea-related curriculum development and research activities to a new position, whilst leveraging existing international industry or community networks in the Korean community to develop funding applications.
