This role will act as a resource and catalyst for the commercial development of biomedical research outputs within the College of Medical and Dental Sciences (MDS) and will contribute to the continued development of the College’s commercial portfolio. The post holder will provide practical support for Academics, Business Development and Intellectual Property staff to identify new intellectual property and to support the development of new commercial opportunities, through identification of intellectual property, preparing business plans and sourcing commercial development funding.
The post holder will be an integral member of the College of MDS Research and Knowledge Transfer Office, drawing on and enhancing the Office’s professional knowledge transfer management support function. Although based in the College of MDS, the post holder will need to work with key staff within the University of Birmingham’s Technology Transfer Company, Alta Innovations. The post holder will be a core member of the Technology Transfer Review Group (which includes members of the College and Alta Innovations) and will be responsible for monitoring and reporting technology transfer related outputs from within their portfolio of activity.
The post will report to the Acting Strategic Projects Manager within the Research & Knowledge Transfer Office of the College of Medical and Dental Sciences.
