This post is employed by QMUL, Malta Ltd and sits within the Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE) at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD), part of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The SMD is a leading medical and dental school that offers international levels of excellence in research and teaching as well as providing clinical service for a population of unrivalled ethnic diversity in east London and the wider Thames Gateway. Applications are invited for the post of Lecturer in Medical Science.
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess a PhD or equivalent, with relevant teaching experience. This post is a teaching and curriculum development role and the post-holder will be expected following an induction period based at Whitechapel, London to facilitate the development and delivery of the MBBS curriculum based in Malta under direction of the Head of Phase One and Director of Anatomy. The post-holder will be expected to help the IHSE contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching to medical and other undergraduate students including students studying on the certificate in clinical foundation studies (QM Malta).
They will also be expected to lead, develop and deliver to MBBS students, high quality teaching, learning and assessment in the clinically relevant basic sciences, including anatomy, musculoskeletal science, neuroscience, immunology or biochemistry, depending on the applicant’s expertise.
The post is a full-time, permanent appointment. Starting salary will be around £42,000 per annum with a salary of £40,182 – £50,030 pro rata for the time spent seconded in London. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave.
