An opportunity has arisen in the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences Centre for an Engagement Officer post. The role involves helping deliver public engagement plans as part of the University’s Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF). The post holder will work with an Academic Public Engagement ISSF Lead, as well as other academic staff and the University Engagement team, in addition to liaising with a wide range of external organisations.
The main focus of the role is to provide support in the field of public engagement, carrying out work, providing training, guidance and support and managing projects within this area. The post holder will be required to maintain an overview of engagement activity across the College of Biomedical and Life Sciences and develop and lead on a new College Engagement Strategy.
Applicants should have substantial experience of working in public engagement, including experience in developing and training in public engagement. Also important is experience of monitoring and evaluation and evidence of demonstrable knowledge of new and innovative approaches to engagement.
Key skills and experience include the ability to communicate detailed and complex information effectively and professionally with a wide range of audiences and influencing and negotiation skills in order to solve expansive problems using initiative.
