The Senior Legal Advisor will establish and provide the University with high quality legal advice and assistance on a wide range of issues including commercial matters predominately relating to research agreements, dispute resolution, company law, consumer law and charity law.

Legal services impact upon all areas of the University and all of its activities, including subsidiary companies. In particular, the Senior Legal Advisor is expected to support for the legal aspects of contract preparation, negotiation, submission and approval. S/he is expected to work with members of senior management and staff across the University to manage legal risk across a diverse remit including contracts, external relationship management, consumer law, staff related casework and student casework.

Attention to detail is imperative if contractual risk is to be managed. There are also tight deadlines to be met. The Senior Legal Advisor will be a flexible and highly capable lawyer with the ability to acquire new areas of legal specialism and to build effective relationships in a Higher Education environment.
