We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced administrator to provide maternity cover for the Surgical Course Administrator, who is responsible for the organisation of approximately 320 surgical undergraduate student attachments throughout the academic year.
The postholder will have to manage many aspects of the surgical course on behalf of the Clinical Tutor, therefore an ability to cope will a variety of issues concurrently is essential. You will need to demonstrate a good level of initiative, independent decision-making and organisational ability, as well as the capability to communicate effectively at all levels. This role demands from the postholder excellent written and interpersonal skills, along with outstanding attention to detail and an ability to remain calm under pressure. You will also have had previous experience in a supervisory role.
You will be a strongly motivated and meticulous individual, with a willingness to be flexible to the demands of this very varied, yet rewarding role. You will be highly computer literate, with skills including word processing, database creation, email and other office applications.
Previous experience of working in a University or hospital environment, with knowledge of graduate education processes and medical terminology, would be extremely advantageous but is not essential.
This is a full-time maternity cover appointment, available from 1 March 2017 for a fixed-term of 12 months. The role is based at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Applications for part-time hours will be considered.
