Postdoctoral Fellowship in Social Cognitive Neuroscience

A postdoctoral fellowship to work with Dr. Sukhvinder S. Obhi in the Department of Psychology, Neuroscience & Behaviour at McMaster University in Canada is available starting in September 2017. Research in the lab falls under two broad themes: 1) Intention, action and the sense of agency, and 2) Social cognitive neuroscience studies of social perception, cognition and behaviour. The successful candidate will focus their research efforts in theme 2, with some collaboration on projects relating to theme 1. Lab facilities include state-of-the-art TMS, EEG and tDCS systems, as well as motion and eye-tracking systems, peripheral psychophysiology and equipment for behavioural experiments. Access to structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging is also available through McMaster’s Imaging Research Centre.

Candidates for the position should have completed their PhD, and must have a high degree of expertise in EEG, and preferably experience with TMS and/or tDCS. Experimental design and data analysis skills appropriate for a Cognitive Neuroscience/Experimental Psychology PhD graduate are also expected. Applicants should be comfortable working in a team environment, and it is expected that the successful candidate will mentor and provide day-to-day assistance to more junior members of the lab.

Salary will be $37,000 and the contract will initially be for one year, with extension to two years if work progresses satisfactorily.
