Summary of Job Purpose and Principal Duties

Research Finance Services provides administrative support to the University’s academic community for research grant awards, spanning the whole life cycle from application support and approval, financial management through to grant closure and reporting.

We are currently recruiting a Research Accountant to join this busy team. Working under direction of the Head of Research Finance Services, the post-holder will provide technical financial and accounting advice and service support for this area. They will be involved in developing this professional service, including identifying and implementing improvements to systems and procedures to enhance quality and efficiency. The post-holder will have line management responsibilities for part of the Research Finance Services team.

The post demands day to day interaction with academic colleagues, external bodies and other administrative sections of the University. Excellent numerical, IT, written and verbal communication skills are essential, as is an ability to cope with a demanding and deadline driven workload.

The successful applicant will be a CCAB (or equivalent) qualified accountant and will have some experience of a similar role within the sector.
