Director of Business Development and Marketing
Royal Agricultural University
|Placed on:||20th March 2017|
|Closes:||18th April 2017|
The Royal Agricultural University (RAU) is going through a period of exciting and dynamic change. At the forefront of agricultural education since its foundation as the Royal Agricultural College in 1845, the University now has some 1,200 undergraduate students from over 45 different countries studying at the historic campus, set in 25 acres of magnificent grounds in the heart of the Cotswolds. A full University since 2013, the RAU is an acknowledged leader in education and applied research relevant to the land-based industries notably agriculture; rural land management; property and the built environment; the food supply chain; agribusiness; countryside and environmental management and equine management and science.
The recently appointed Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joanna Price, is leading a process of strategic repositioning for the RAU, and wishes to build a new senior leadership team to help deliver change. The new Director of Business Development and Marketing will be part of this new senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Vice Chancellor, and play a pivotal leadership role in shaping the future of University.
The Director of Business Development and Marketing will play a core role in the income generation and profile development of RAU, forging strategic partnerships and developing business on behalf of the University. An unusually high proportion of RAU’s income comes from its commercial and semi-commercial activities that need to be revitalised and supplemented with new initiatives. The University also seeks to build on its existing strengths in enterprise, through developing partnerships with businesses locally, nationally and internationally.
Strong candidates will be proven deliverers of business development and commercial services, ideally in a knowledge intensive environment, with some experience of working at executive board leadership level, and of working closely with a non-executive board. Hands on experience of income generation is essential in a variety of enterprises. Leadership experience at a senior level dealing with complexity and leading and implementing change is critical. A track record of inspiring and developing a team of business development and commercial professionals to deliver to higher performance is essential for this role.
