The Office of the Principal wishes to appoint, as maternity cover, an Executive Assistant to provide high-level and comprehensive secretarial and administrative support to the President and Principal of Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). The role will focus on ensuring the smooth, efficient and effective running of the Principal’s agenda, diary and meetings, as well as contributing more broadly to ensure that the Principal and the wider Office is able to operate effectively. The role will require considerable initiative, judgement and adaptability to decide on appropriate courses of action and to react to changing circumstances.
This role will provide a central point of contact for the Principal. As such, the post holder will liaise with a wide range of people at a very senior level in QMUL and at partner organisations and therefore will be expected to represent the Office of the Principal and the institution in a professional, efficient and courteous manner. The post holder is expected to maintain complete confidentiality at all times.
As a key member of the administrative function in the Office of the Principal, the post holder will engage daily in activities to support the smooth and efficient running of the overall office as part of its EA team.
This is a wide-ranging role, which will allow the appointee to develop a broad range of skills and experiences as a platform for career advancement.
The appointment is to provide cover while the substantive postholder is on maternity leave. It will therefore be fixed-term, with an anticipated end date to the appointment of 14 September 2018. The post is full time and is a Grade 4 appointment, salary will be in the range £32,405 - £38,062 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
