The Department of Finance and Insurance (http://www.LN.edu.hk/fin_ins/) is one of the constituent departments of the  Faculty of Business that contribute to the undergraduate programme of Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) degree and offers a major in Finance. The Department also offers a programme in Risk and Insurance Management, MPhil and PhD degrees in Finance and Risk in Insurance, as well as a taught MSc programme in Finance. 

The Department invites applications from candidates specializing in any field of Finance.  Expertise in an empirical investigations of contemporary issues in banking, capital markets, corporate finance, corporate governance and organization, and investments, and law and finance will be an advantage. 

General Requirements
Applicants should have a PhD degree in a relevant discipline with related teaching experience, excellent publication and a record of competitive grants.  The appointee is expected to teach and provide research supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of subject areas in Finance.  For appointment as Chair Professor, the candidate should be a renowned scholar of international standing with an outstanding publication record and substantial teaching experience in the relevant field.  For appointment as Professor, the candidate should have substantial research and teaching experience with significant recent scholarly publications in leading journals. 

Applicants should provide information on their research records and accomplishments and evidence of quality teaching.  Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential.  The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to the highest degree of excellence in teaching and research.  The appointee at the rank of Chair Professor/Professor is expected to provide academic leadership in teaching, research and knowledge transfer, and to contribute to the administration and management of the Department.  He/She is expected to provide supervision to MPhil and PhD students, and to mentor and collaborate with junior faculty members on research projects.  

Appointment
The conditions of appointment will be competitive.  Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity, housing benefits and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee. 

Appointment will normally be made on an initial contract of three years and may carry substantiation.
