Salary: Grade 8: £39,324 - £46,924 p.a. or Grade 9: £48,327 - £55,998 p.a.

Description of Duties

Duties will be as follows:

  • Contributing across teaching, research, knowledge exchange and Centre development.
  • Assisting with existing educational provision on Child Well-being and Protection in the Faculty.
  • Building on the Centre’s external networks.
  • Raising external research funding.
  • Conducting high quality research and publishing in their field.
  • Assisting with managing resources for the education programmes in social sciences (undergraduate and postgraduate) and with leading future developments in these programmes.
  • Co-ordinating modules as required, entailing the development of teaching materials, direct teaching and assessment.
  • Contributing specialist teaching input to Faculty programmes as appropriate.
  • Recruiting and supervising PhD students.
  • Being explicitly supported to assume a leadership role in the Centre in the future.
  • Taking an explicit remit for the development of online and face to face Master’s provision linked with the expertise of the Centre and the expertise they bring. This will include the development of cross institutional and international collaborations.
  • Developing new areas of research relevant to the Centre’s future plan, for example in Direct work with children; Child protection systems strategic development; Relationship-based work; Integrated systems; Risk and decision-making; Child neglect; Child well-being; Protection across the life-span; Child Sexual Exploitation; Children on the move; Children and digital worlds; Evaluating child wellbeing interventions; Children’s rights.

Behavioural Competencies

Research

  • A sustained recognised academic research profile including internationally excellent

outputs.

  • A track record of securing external funding for research and knowledge transfer.
  • Experience of management of small to medium research projects and involvement in research teams.
  • A track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals to levels of international excellence and a strong REF profile.
  • A willingness to develop research links with stakeholders in the UK and overseas.
  • Experience of successful postgraduate research supervision, and supervision of taught

postgraduate and undergraduate research student projects.

  • Experience of research-led teaching.
  • Demonstrably advanced skills in relevant research methods.

Leadership and academic management

  • The capacity to provide academic leadership.

Teaching

  • Experience of, and commitment to, providing high quality teaching within higher education.
  • Ability and willingness to teach across the curriculum.
  • Experience of curriculum development and management.
