Job Description

An 18-month fixed-term full time Research Assistant position is available to join the Developmental Research Group at Department of Psychology at Durham University, UK. The post is funded by two project grants from the UK Economic and Social Research Council. The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr Marko Nardini and Dr Dorothy Cowie, and will assist with research on human perceptual and cognitive development. Planned work includes multisensory, virtual reality studies on the development of perceptual learning and own-body representation.

Studies take place in the lab and in local schools, and use a range of experimental methods including immersive virtual reality, perceptual psychophysics, and simple table-top tasks. The successful applicant need not have any prior experience with these methods, but should be technically competent and able to learn to use new equipment and software. The successful applicant must have experience of working on research studies with children or working in a developmental research lab. The successful applicant will have an excellent rapport with young children and their parents and be able to collect high quality data with children aged 4-12 years.
