Senior Lecturer (Director) - Physical Education - The School of Humanities and Social Science (Ref# 2017/029/01)

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (“University”) is established in accordance with the Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on Chinese-foreign Cooperation in Running Schools upon approval of the Ministry of Education. It inherits the educational philosophy and academic systems of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is intended to evolve into a world class research university with strong Chinese cultural influence. It is committed to nurturing high end talents with global perspective, Chinese tradition and social responsibility.

The University is featured with an international learning environment, a bilingual teaching pedagogy, a collegiate system, general education courses, multidisciplinary programmes and a student-centered educational philosophy.

The aim of creating the School of Humanities and Social Science is to provide foundations in humanities and social science through its teaching for students to gain insights into the past, while enabling them to critically examine contemporary issues, and explore answers for a sustainable future, so that our students can be better positioned to respond to challenges facing China and the world. In the beginning years, our School offers core courses of the University, ranging from language courses to General Education foundation and elective courses, including also IT and PE courses. Our curricula focus on developing students’ analytical abilities, critical comprehension, effective communication skills, IT literacy, as well as their physical fitness, which are essential to their further studies and lifelong learning.

Post Specification
The School of Humanities and Social Science at CUHK(SZ) invites applications in Physical Education or Sports Science at the rank of senior lecturer. Applicants with very competitive academic records may be considered for position of assistant professor. All applicants should (i) hold a PhD degree in Physical Education or Sports Science; (ii) be able to demonstrate teaching excellence at University level; (iii) have relevant administrative experience in managing Physical Education unit and/or sports center; (iv) maintain and enhance the strength of teaching and research in Physical Education; (v) contribute to supervising the management of University sports center; (vi) be dynamic and adaptable to develop the intercollegiate sports activities, to foster the interdisciplinary and sports culture in the University; and (vii) build links among the Physical Education teaching unit, sports center and Colleges/Schools in the University as well as the local community.

Successful applicant might be appointed as Director to Physical Education teaching unit and University sports center.

The appointee is expected to commence work as early as June or July 2017, or at a mutually-agreed date as soon as possible after that. The position will be open until filled.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
Salary will be competitive, commensurate with experience and academic accomplishments. Appointments will be made under the establishment of CUHK(SZ) and statutory benefits will be provided according to the prevailing labor laws applicable to the PRC. The appointee will be based in Shenzhen, China.
