Academic Engagement Officer

Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) - Hampton Court Palace

12 months Fixed Term - 3 days a week

Historic Royal Palaces is the independent charity that looks after the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, the Banqueting House, Kew Palace and Hillsborough Castle.  We help everyone explore the story of how monarchs and people have shaped society in some of the greatest palaces ever built.

We are developing a new collaborative MA programme in Heritage Management with Queen Mary University of London. This MA is an exciting opportunity for students to study the business of heritage at one of London’s leading HEIs and across Historic Royal Palaces’ five London sites, including the Tower of London, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Historic Royal Palaces received IRO (Independent Research Organisation) status in 2015. In 2016, we submitted our first successful application to the Arts and Humanities Research Council for a research project which is currently in progress.

To assist with these new directions, we are looking for an Academic Engagement Officer to join our research team who is friendly, organised, enthusiastic, creative, and ambitious. You will support the Research Manager and Head of Research (and later Programme Director) in the administration of the new collaborative MA programme with Queen Mary University of London. You will also work with the Research Manager and Head of Research in supporting research active staff who are writing funding applications.

The successful applicant will have graduate and postgraduate degrees in subject areas which include Heritage Studies, Heritage Management, Art/Architectural History, Archaeology, or British/British and European History. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will relish working in collaboration with colleagues within and beyond Historic Royal Palaces.

Historic Royal Palaces is an equal opportunities employer and truly values a diverse workforce. Applications are welcome from candidates regardless of their background.
