Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Performance Studies

Sheffield Hallam University - Humanities

Faculty of Development and Society

Closing date 03/7/17 at 23:30

The performance team are an up and coming, award winning, supportive and dynamic group of academics with a wealth of experience in professional practice and academic research. We are part of the Stage & Screen subject group, sitting alongside colleagues who also teach on film studies and screenwriting degrees, and part of the Department of Humanities.

As a lecturer/senior lecturer in our team, you will be a great teacher, who engages and inspires students, but also has an understanding of the challenges they face. You will fit into a programme of teaching that considers Performance from both a theoretical and practical perspective and that focusses on the skills of the performer, the process of making work and on how performance permeates into everyday life. You will be willing to contribute to the broader life of the subject group, through attendance at team meetings, giving research seminars and, in particular, engaging in on-going curriculum review to ensure the curriculum remains current and relevant.

You will also be a researcher and original thinker, looking to develop your academic voice through academic writing or practice-based-research and will have a clear research plan that you wish to pursue.

You will have a well-developed current knowledge and understanding of critical, practical and theoretical issues relevant to Performance, and the ability to teach across a range of Performance modules. You will also have the ability to inspire, motivate and connect with a range of stakeholders e.g. students and collaborative provision partners.
