Responding to ever increasing student numbers and recent external research funding success in all of our Research Groups, the Department of Mathematics at the University of Sussex invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Mathematics.

In the 2014 research excellence framework (REF), 81 per cent of our research outputs were classified as world-leading (4*) or internationally excellent (3*).

Mathematics at Sussex was ranked 12th in the UK in a recent league table [Guardian 2018]. It also repeatedly scores well in the UK National Student Survey.

Current research in mathematics at Sussex is grouped into Analysis and Partial Differential Equations, Geometry and Topology, Mathematics Applied to Biology, Mathematical Physics, Numerical Analysis and Scientific Computing, and Probability and Statistics.

Applications are invited from rigorous numerical analysts working in any area of numerical analysis and scientific computing; candidates
at the interface with Mathematical Biology would be particularly welcome.

The Department and the University are committed to equality and valuing diversity, and recently received the Athena SWAN Bronze Award.

Applications are particularly welcome from women and minority group candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in science and engineering at Sussex.

The Department of Mathematics welcomes applications to academic posts from candidates who wish to work part-time or as job-sharers.
