Senior Research Engineer – Speech and Cognition

Cambridge Cognition Ltd

Cambridge Cognition is an innovative neuroscience technology company dedicated to measuring and improving brain health. We develop a wide range of digital health solutions to the scientific and practical challenges of improving neural function, from identifying new digital biomarkers of neuropsychiatric disorders through to FDA-approved medical devices to assess dementia.

We are currently recruiting in Cambridge UK for a talented engineer to join our collaborative, multi-disciplinary Research and Development team to help prototype and test new approaches to assessing cognition using consumer IOT platforms including voice interfaces such as the Amazon Echo and wearable sensor devices such as the Apple Watch.

Working as part of a small team of data scientists, neuroscientists and technologists the hands-on role involves iterative design, development and scientific validation of novel cognitive assessments designed for use on patients’ own devices as they go about their daily lives. We are particularly interested in the potential to use language and voice-based assessments to capture cognitive processes and other mental states in conditions such as Alzheimer’s, depression, and chronic pain.

The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of voice analysis tools and approaches, as well as practical experience addressing voice analysis challenges such as speaker identification, emotion recognition or fraud detection, along with strong experience with machine learning / deep learning toolkits such as TensorFlow or Theano and speech toolkits such as SRILM or Open SMILE.

The role will involve the design and development of interactive voice applications and the application of state of the art machine learning techniques to voice audio data, therefore experience with dialog systems and speech recognition is highly desirable.

The candidate should have a Masters or PhD in a relevant discipline.

If interested please contact recruitment@camcog.com. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, and the position will remain open until filled.
