The salary range will be Grade 7: £37,936 - £41,163, Grade 8: £42,304 - £49,904 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at UCL is recognised as one of the leading Departments for research in its subject area, worldwide, as well as having an extensive teaching programme at both undergraduate (BEng and MEng) and Masters level. Further information about the Department can be found at www.ee.ucl.ac.uk We are looking to make three appointments at Lecturer level and we are seeking candidates with research experience in:

1. Optical Communications - spanning all areas from optical networks design, through to high-speed digital transmission and advanced optical sub-systems/devices, to join the Optical Networks Group.

Areas we would like to expand include experimental aspects of future, optical fibre transmissions systems for long-haul and access applications, intelligent optical network architectures, nonlinear optics, information theory and machine learning for all aspects of optical communications.

2. RF/Microwave Electronics, radar systems, antennas, microelectronics design, RF Sensors or control engineering, to join the Sensors, Systems and Circuits Group. A personal vision and commitment to grow interdisciplinary research activity as required to support the groups ambitions to work across disciplines in areas related to Security, RF Sensing, Healthcare, the Environment and Robotics is particularly important for this role.

The posts are full time, open ended positions and we expect the successful candidates to take up position from 1st January 2018.

Applicants are required to have a PhD or equivalent qualification in a related discipline as well as having carried out at least one period of successful postdoctoral research in a leading academic or industrial group and/ or have been awarded an independent research fellowship.

It's desirable that applicants have experience of working in or collaborating with the Electronic & Electrical Engineering industry. For appointment at Grade 8, applicants should have a strong track record of attracting funding to support their research programme at the highest international level and a record of successful supervision and management of active research staff.
