The project will focus on understanding the role of iron intermetallics on aluminium alloys and will use conventional aluminium casting and manufacturing process to produce sheet material. You will undertake a comprehensive investigation on the effect that various alloying elements have on processing and mechanical/material properties, and the insight gained will allow for the design of improved recycling aluminium alloys for use in the automotive industry.

The project is funded through a Jaguar Land Rover Industrial CASE award, and you will be encouraged to actively participate and interact with industrial stakeholders in both the automotive industry and material supply chain.

WMG will provide exceptional research collaboration possibility within the group and internationally. You will work with leading academics and access cutting-edge research facilities that are instrumental to this proposal.  You will also have the opportunity to participate in various scientific and industrial activity, providing useful networking opportunities.
