Dr. Nüsret-Semahat Arsel International Business Law Center (NASAMER) invites applications for a three year post-doctoral fellowship position.

The Center was established in 2006 with the aim of promoting cutting-edge and policy oriented research on private law that is internally and externally funded; strengthening ties with prominent international centres of research and with international academic organisations; and of integrating LL.M and Ph.D students and post-doctoral research fellows into the activities of NASAMER. The Center’s activities currently span organisation of conferences, workshops and distinguished speaker seminar series, application for external research grants and for acting as depository library for a number of international organisations.

The research interests of the Center include private international law, commercial and investment arbitration, contract law and tort law, intellectual property, information technologies and law, competition law, international sales, corporate law, transport law, insurance law and tax law. The Center encourages interdisciplinary research as well as research that interrogates the boundaries and relationships between public law and private law at the global level. Koç University is a leading research and liberal arts university located in Istanbul, Turkey. It is a private, non-profit institution of higher education founded in 1993. Candidates must have received their Ph.D in the fields of private international law, commercial or investment arbitration, contract law, tort law, intellectual property, information technologies and law, competition law, international sales law, corporate law, transport law, insurance law or tax law within the past 3 years or be near completion of their Ph.D at the time of application.

Candidates must show a strong commitment to scholarly research with international impact in the broad field of private law and must have a post-doctoral research agenda with identifiable research outputs. They must also demonstrate high level of analytical and organisational skills, the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting, to communicate complex information clearly, and the ability to use the internet for the communication of research. Fluency (written and oral) in English is required.

A competitive salary is offered along with subsistence allowances.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed (face to face or via Skype) for the position. The successful candidate will be affiliated to the Center and the Law School and will be expected to contribute to the work of the Center alongside his/her post-doctoral research.
