Lecturer in Cross Platform Video Production

University of Salford - School of Arts & Media

The BA in Television and Radio is the largest programme in the School and is driving rapid expansion in the Media and Broadcast Directorate which enjoys an outstanding reputation for its popular programmes and the industry facing, collaborative learning experiences it offers students. Based at our MediaCityUK campus, our students are learning contemporary technical and content production skills on the very latest industry standard equipment. We work closely with media employers in the sector which helps our graduates gain careers across an impressive range of creative media organisations. Our team is strong, largely practice based, ambitious and friendly.

We are looking for a lecturer with a deep knowledge of and passion for new and emerging media platforms to join the team in delivering a vibrant learning experience to the content producers of tomorrow. Our students need to know how to make content that will work both on terrestrial TV and social media platforms, how to move fluently between different formats; long and short form modes; interactive and shareable outputs. And you need the technical proficiency, professional experience and enthusiasm to inspire them.

The role will involve you teaching and assessing student work, supervising the student’s professional development, and setting up links and practical projects with external media partners. You will teach across a range of modules in video production, content creation and cross platform delivery and be encouraged to develop potential new areas of study. You will need to be highly competent as a shooter and editor.

This is a high profile media environment and there are plenty of opportunities for you to develop your own collaborative initiatives on a national and international stage. In return, you need to be creative, energetic, and collaborative to help us take this programme into a new era of vibrant cross platform content production.

We are committed to being an inclusive employer and are working towards developing an inclusive working environment celebrating the diversity of our University community.
