The Role

Stanley Picker Gallery Coordinator

  1. To efficiently coordinate and implement all day-to-day Gallery activities including: Front-of-House duties; general venue maintenance; exhibition invigilation; Gallery administration; overseeing Gallery IT provision; dealing with public enquiries and Gallery correspondence; bookings for Gallery and studio usage; and ensuring the Gallery is effectively staffed during public opening hours and events outside of these hours.
  2. To assist with implementing and monitoring the Gallery’s finances with the Programme Curator and in liaison with University Finance Office staff including: maintaining up-to-date budgets for all events, exhibitions and general Gallery activities; coordinating payments to freelance staff, other practitioners and Gallery assistants, and ordering goods, services and equipment.
  3. To coordinate and implement essential marketing activities including: publicity and print, press liaison and listings; maintaining and updating the Gallery database; ensuring the Gallery, Faculty and University websites are regularly updated; and coordinating regular mail-outs and email-outs to general audiences and specialist groups.
  4. To assist the Director and Programme Curator with all aspects of developing, organising and implementing the Gallery’s programme of exhibitions and events, including; artist liaison; hanging installations; collection care and display; condition-checking, packing and transporting of works and coordinating exhibition insurance.
  5. To assist with developing and overseeing the implementation of a diverse range of participatory activities in liaison with the Director, Programme Curator and freelance staff, aimed at university members, other local organisations and a broad general public.
  6. To coordinate and oversee the work of all Gallery Volunteers and Gallery Assistants, ensuring they are properly briefed on all relevant procedures related to working in the venue.
  7. To undertake all aspects of the job conscious of the security of the building and its contents and the personal safety of all Gallery visitors and colleagues, in line with Kingston University’s Health and Safety Policy.
  8. To undertake any other such duties as may reasonably be required by the Programme Curator or Director.

The Person
To ensure the efficient coordination and implementation of diverse administrative, financial, participation and marketing activities at the Stanley Picker Gallery at Kingston University, and to assist in delivering the Gallery’s programme of exhibitions and events.
