The Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) is a new industry-led centre by the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in collaboration with Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Based on a contemporary business model of public-private partnership, the centre transforms remanufacturing and manufacturing research into industry ready solutions for cross-sectoral industry members by bringing together best-in-class global companies and R&D minds in Singapore. 

Currently, the ARTC works with 44 industry members to develop advanced remanufacturing and manufacturing capabilities. The members are comprised of global MNCs, leading equipment and software providers as well as SMEs.

In addition, you will support industry members to develop strategies and technology roadmaps in Advanced Remanufacturing. JOB DESCRIPTION
The Digital Manufacturing team within Factory of the Future taskforce is searching for development scientist for in the following areas of Simulation, Virtualization and Digitalization. Role will be responsible for evaluating simulation processes to determine manufacturing feasibility. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Be part of a taskforce to support and contribute to the Factory of the future (Industry 4.0) vision for the centre
  2. Research, investigate and execute smart manufacturing factory concepts in virtual simulation
  3. Responsible for performing feasibility studies relative to digital simulation
  4. Create 2D and 3D digital model of workstations, robotics cell, machining centers, continuous line, assembly cells and autonomous transport systems
  5. Model and simulate complete production systems and their processes
  6. Perform experiments and what-if scenarios to optimize production systems and processes using extensive analysis tools such as statistics, charts and bottleneck analysis
  7. Develop optimization algorithms for cycle times and throughput in assembly line balancing problems. Using linear programming tools to implement the developed algorithms.
  8. Propose recommendations based on feasibility assessments and communicating feasibility assessment results to process engineering with the aid of PowerPoint simulation reports
  9. Perform research on smart manufacturing concepts and processes for cross-sector industrial applications
  10. Technical planning, execution and delivery of development projects for global industry members
  11. Writing of technical reports and presentation of technical result

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor / Master / PhD in Engineering
  • Experience creating 3D simulations
  • Python, C++ ,C, C#, and JavaScript programming expertise
  • Experience with Unity, AutoCAD, and 3D gaming
  • Experience in manufacturing applications and product design / development and product design development cycle
  • Experience in linear programing in Matlab.
  • Knowledge of heuristic assembly line balancing methods: Hoffman, position weight, COMSOAL, Kilbridge & Wester method etc.
  • Ability to use Plant Simulation to create a virtual simulation of a factory
  • Ability to use Process Simulate to create a virtual simulation of assembly line process.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Engineering principles (time standards, optimization, etc.) is an asset
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing Engineering principles
